Role of Journalist

What is the role of a Journalist?
"I think a journalist should be forthright. Both the editors and journalist should work together to make sure the public interest is served and not assist government by getting government's agenda involved."-Dr. Clint Wilson, communications professor."I see myself as a black person first and a journalist later. It takes courage for a journalist to go and get the true story of people but if as a journalist you see an imbalance, it's your duty to give the story that will balance it."-Alan King, senior print journalism major."... to serve the readers and use the watchdog function, making sure that those who are accountable are really accountable to the public."- Ruby Bailey, journalism professor."... to seek the truth in an accurate fashion, as well as speak for African-Americans who are unable to speak for themselves,"- Michael Cottman, journalism professor."... to get the current information to the masses, getting the truth out to the people is essential. If not, then you are considered a fictional writer."- Arthur Walcott-Ceesay, senior radio-television-film major."... to cover accurate news and to inform the people rather than give opinions."- Ebony Jackson, sophomore public relations major."... to effectively inform the public of daily ongoings in today's society without embellishing or injecting their opinions."- K. Karizma Wilson, sophomore public relations major.
